I have always had a interest in technology and computer graphics. I was one of the lucky ones that knew what I wanted to do as far back as elementary school and pursued it. I was one of the first 3 student to take HTML and Internet study classes in my small High School in Okeechobee FL. Being the mid to late 90's and a small town I knew my options there were limited. I continued on after High School earning an associate degree in Art from Indian River Community College in Ft. Pierce FL. There was my introduction to the world of design and illustration and all things Adobe. I was definitely hooked. There I also focused on learning the basics of drawing and design as a medium in art. I even travailed abroad to France for 2 weeks studying the designs of Gothic architecture.
I was next accepted admission into the University of Central Florida where I began with a focus in computer animation. After my first semester I decided I wanted a broader education on the digital front. I continued taking 3D animation classes but changed my focus to Digital Media which contained a wider pallet of design, web and video courses. I had the opportunity to co-host a UCF radio show and became an assistant to a professor teaching her marketing students the basics of web design and how to implement that into their practices. My senior year I become busy working on 3 major projects for the university. The first being Digital Book Talk in which I directed a group that creates a short video production that encourages children in their school to be more active readers. The second being a short animated movie and the third being a video game based on NASA's space history. More details on these projects can be found here.
After graduating UCF with my bachelors in Digital Media I then began to peruse work in my career. I worked my way through high school and college being employed by Publix Supermarkets and later I worked seasonally as an entertainer for Universal Studios Florida. I found my first job in my field working full time as a graphic designer for a church in Winter Park FL for the last 7 years. The range of my design skills have stretched even further due to the variety of projects entailed by my position. I did everything from creating layouts for publications, logo design, web design, social media, photographer, meeting with clients and tech support. Some examples of my work can be found here. I also have not forgotten my alma mater. I also served on the UCF Alumni board for the Visual Arts & Design Chapter. I have the fortunate opportunity to hold the graphic design, vice and chair positions. It is a great opportunity to engage students and build the chapter by creating designs, planning as well as attending events. About 6 years ago I moved to Kansas City Missouri and am currently a free-lance graphic designer and work at a full time graphics company in Gardner, Kansas. Thank you for hanging on for 3 paragraphs and learning about myself and what I love. I hope to have the opportunity to work with you on your next project and make something you love a reality!
